REVIEW “The Life of Antique Auctioneer” – Charlie Ross Antiques Auctioneer & TV Presenter

Charlie Ross, the well-known auctioneer and expert on antiques, who has appeared on television programmes such as Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Show, gave an entertaining, humorous and informative talk to a very appreciative audience in the Village Hall on Saturday evening. There were many anecdotes from his time as an auctioneer and quite a bit of name-dropping too! He had brought along six varied objects for examination and “valuation” by the audience before his talk and held a mock auction of them afterwards (thankfully, no actual cash was involved!). Finally, he revealed the actual valuation of the objects which only went to prove that the audience were not experts! However, following a tie-break, Margaret Boyce won the prize.
To close the evening, Charlie signed and sold copies of his newly published book “Sold!” and generously gave a donation of £5 for each book sold to the New Hall Fund.
All in all, a very successful evening which raised just over £800 towards a new village hall.
