An update from the Chair of Fritwell Village Hall CIO Trustees, Cass Miller Jones on new Hall fundraising

If you weren’t able to come to the village update on the 14th November then you may have missed the news that we have currently raised £97,000! This is from historical and recent fundraising and the money that will come from Cala Homes. We are really pushing to reach £100,000 before the end of the year. If you are keen to support then we have lots of events in the run up to Christmas (see Poster below) and we have also just launched our ‘Buy-a-Tile’ campaign, which you can read about here. This is a great way to get your name on the new building for donations from £5.

Fundraising is going to be our main focus for 2024 (alongside keeping the current Hall running as a core part of the community), with an aim of starting to build in 2025. With a target of £600,000 to hit we are trying to get funds from as many different sources as we can to help our chances of success. We will be:

  • Asking relevant local companies for ‘in-kind’ donations, such as kitchen cabinets and bathroom fittings
  • Asking for sponsorship for elements of the build, for example, the solar panels
  • Continuing to run fundraising events in the community
  • Continuing to share our Crowdfunder page – which can be found here
  • Applying for small, medium and large grants

Given the focus on fundraising we are currently recruiting people to join our fundraising team. The team will take on a range of tasks including writing and reviewing grant applications, approaching local businesses for support, sourcing storage for any in-kind donations,  and supporting events. We’d love people from the community to get involved so please email us on  if you think you can help.

And finally… thank you to all the people that have supported the Village Hall in 2023, your support of and attendance at events, contributions to fundraising and hiring of the hall is all really appreciated. We hope that you have a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
