Update on plans for a new Village Hall for Fritwell (April 2022)

 

In the Autumn of 2021, after gathering input from residents, the FVH Trustees took the following actions to help progress plans for a new Village Hall:

  • To meet with experts to plan and design a hall that can meet our needs and that is achievable and affordable
  • To bring an outline of possible options to the Village Hall Trustees to make an initial decision on feasibility and design

Key design requirements gathered from the residents were:

  • To have an increased useable hall space
  • To open up the back of the hall to make the most of the green field space

Whilst on-going Covid issues over the following months delayed progress (as we all know builders and those in the building trade have been incredibly busy), we have recently received draft plans from three suppliers.

These plans have been examined thoroughly and the VH Trustees are now working hard to gain consensus on a design that meets the brief and are close to reaching this point.

In order to ensure we put together a feasible plan to bring back to the community, we also need to have a pre-planning discussion with Cherwell District Council and this is our next priority. Only after this will we be able to cost up the project fully.

Rest assured that progress is being made and that there will be further opportunities for residents to review the proposal and costs for a new hall well before any final decisions are made. We will publicise the dates of any meetings on our website and Facebook page, as well as on posters around the village.

We are also exploring fund raising options for the new hall and look forward to gathering ideas from residents on this later in the year.
