Quite a few things have happened since we held our update meeting for the community in early December. Most notably we submitted planning permission for the New Village Hall building, as per the plans we shared at the meeting. The planning permission closes for comments on the 2nd February; we hope everyone has now had their chance to respond. We can already see that Oxfordshire County Council Highways have placed a limit on the parking that we would be able to include, but otherwise we are optimistic for a positive outcome to the planning application. We expect to know more by the end of February.

Since the New Year the Trustees have turned their attention to fundraising and grant applications. The first part of this has been to put together a Fundraising Policy which we are making good progress with and which will be put on our website once it is complete. Our next step is to get started on grant applications – which leads us to first request for volunteers from the community. We are looking for people to support us in making our grant applications – if you have any experience in submitting grant applications, or have experience from the other side, reviewing and approving grant applications, or you are a skilled proof-reader, we would love to hear from you. And finally… just to reassure those that currently hire the hall on a regular basis, we are not expecting anything to change with the current hall for at least a couple of years – we know it will take time to raise the funds we need – so there is no need to look for alternative venues. When we get closer to a build date the Trustees will work with you to find temporary alternatives nearby.
