Update 12th August 2021…
How lovely it was to see the return of this popular event and a sense of normality after all the challenges of Covid 19. Despite a poor weather forecast there was only one short-lived shower which did nothing to mar the enjoyment of those who were there.
There was an impressive number of entries despite the poor summer and outside, under cover, the Tea & Cake Stall, Raffle, Tombola, Bric a Brac & Books, Whisky Lottery and Blind Man’s Bottle Stall all contributed to Village Hall funds. St Olave’s Church ran a Bottle Stall and Voucher Board and the Playing Field Committee a BBQ and Gin Board and the Friends of Fritwell School a Spin for a Teddy for their own funds and Vicky Hibberd promoted the Three Parishes Magazine.
The Committee are so grateful to all those who helped towards the success of the event, not least those entrants who produced such impressive results. Particular thanks go to the following who ran the stalls so efficiently; Margaret Hughes, Polly Foster, Nicky Smith, Mandy Fox, Angie Reeves, Caroline Westall, Rosemary Dockrey, and Sue Miles, along with Committee members and friends.
Further thanks go to the team who erected and took down the marquees, Colin Smith, Ian Critchley, Mick Stiff, Pete Foley, Alex Steer, Chris Miller Jones, Paul Walder, Jon Boyce and Luke Kimber for the loan of his pop-up shelters. Kate and Roger Neal were also very helpful in setting up for the afternoon and tidying away at the end. Alistair Lowdon deserves a special mention, not only for supervising the marquees’ erection but also for helping on both days with the collections from residents, organising extra tables, taking down pop-ups in the pouring rain and generally being an enormous support to the organisers
Finally, massive thanks to all those residents of Fritwell who so generously donated bottles and items for the Raffle, Tombola and Cake Stall. This helps to make it a truly whole village event and to raise the superb amount of £862 for Village Hall funds.
Vivienne Harding, who organised the Show very efficiently with the help of Glynis Lowdon and Helen Metcalfe (who also oversaw the “and More” part) greatly appreciated the support given by other Committee members before, during and after the event.
