Fritwell Live Night – 7.30pm Sunday 7th July 2019 – Review

Well it was so warm & with a hot crowd we needed to have the doors open to let a bit of air in!

With more performers than ever – it was an excellent evening.

Well done to Carl B, Ian C, Mike S for organising/sound. All players – young and older – particularly Becky’s piano students, a welcome back to Alka Seltzers & Jay plus the now well established House Band – Frets and Strings – who have had four recent gigs in the last couple of weeks + thanks to Christine D and David for running the bar.

As a quick starter review please see below some photos of those playing and those listening. I look forward to receiving other people’s photos or videos. Thanks Rob J for some still shots of the night.

Here’s a list of the playing artists:

Emily – piano
Charlie – piano
Evie – piano
Helen, Karen and Becky – as the Alka Seltzers who performed Chattanooga Choo-choo
Jenny and Carl did Living on a Prayer dedicated to Mel and Rob soon to be married, as this allegedly was how Mel first saw Rob singing this in a Karaoke bar?!
Jay – did Here comes the Sun + one of his own
Si – all the way from West Wales –  with Jen did Creep amongst their set
Mike – (Carl’s brother) with some wonderful guitar renditions with a flamenco style
Will – put us into contemplative mood with a strong set of songs including a song from Leonard Cohen
Ian, Debbie and Alex – with some mirth from a self penned Political commentary on the Conservative Party leadership contest + tribute to well known Souldern Heating and Plumbing Engineer Bob McGarry
Carl – with self penned Silly Lies & Love Games plus The Old Compton Street Blues (early Al Stewart)
Ian, Paul, Shaun and Carl – Frets and Strings – did Never Met a Girl Like You Before, Stuck in the Middle With You and They Call Me The Breeze
Frets & Strings + Col – gave Adge Cutler & the Wurzels’ Champion: Dung Spreader a run with superb audition participation

More Live Nights…

The next Live night is expected around the end of September 2019 – more info when the date is fixed. Don’t forget…

You don’t have to play – simply come along enjoy a drink (the bar will be open) and listen to the musical talent on show. There’s also some humour – which will bring a smile to your face.

It’s a lovely way to spend a couple of hours relaxing on a Sunday evening.

If you want to participate musically, for more info please contact Ian-345106 or Carl-346403 or email info@fritwellvillagehall.co.uk

Look forward to seeing you there…
