Fritwell Village Hall, Flower Show and More Saturday, August 19th 2023

Firstly, Vivienne Harding, who has organised the Flower Show part of Fritwell Flower Show & More for the past very many years, was unable to do so this year following a stay in hospital.  She was sadly missed but was able, never-the less, to pass on her knowledge and expertise to others so that the Show could go ahead seamlessly.

Secondly, there was a disappointing number of entries in all Classes this year, so our grateful thanks go to those who took the time and trouble to enter.  Without the four stalwarts of the Vegetable and Flowers Classes and the two stalwarts of the Domestic Classes there would have been barely enough to show. So come on you gardeners and bakers, you have a whole year to cultivate your plots and practice your baking before we coerce you into entering next year!

In spite of the low numbers, the entries were as good as ever, with some impressive exhibits.  They ranged from the largest marrow (huge!) through wonderful dahlias (gorgeous!), to fantastic fruit cakes (yummy!)  and fabulous photographs.  Below is a list of Cup Winners, which show particular success for Luke Kimber, Tony Merry and Glynis Lowdon.

Special thanks go to Edith Phillips for entering all the Children’s 0-5 years old Classes with some vey accomplished work and to Thomas Williams for his Colouring entry.  Well done to both of them.

Last, but certainly not least, our thanks go to the judges, Sarah Penkethman, Sheila Delahunt and Rachael Clark for helping make it all run smoothly.
