Sept 08 New events list for the next year is released Aug 08 The Flower Show was held and for the FIFTH year running the heavens opened.....but this didn't put of the hardy Fritwellians who ventured out to support the show so thank you to all those who braved the weather !! June 08 The Bluesy Suzie Duo returned for excellent evening of music and entertainment. There was also a guest appearance from Ian Critchley on guitar. May 08 For the 4th year running the "call my wine bluff" event was held. Two of the orignal panel returned and the eventually winning team was "spit or swallow" who guessed 4 out of 6 wines correctly. Mar 08 Our third and final Arts At Large sponsored event took place with Esther Miller and her quintet performing in front of yet another packed village hall. A very relaxed evening of music was enjoyed. The Village Hall Committee AGM took place on the 10th March. Feb 08 Gonzo Moose eventually made it back to Fritwell Village Hall after an accident postponed the original date. They didn't dissapoint and everybody had a fantastic evening of comedy theatre......the meal was served and everybody had a great evening. Jan 08 Our first event of 2008 and was another popular quiz night. This time it was themed on a review of the year 2007. It was a close fought thing with only 7 point separating all the teams and the eventual winners, Odds & Sods, winning by only 1/2 a point !!!! All the participants, as part of the ticket price, also enjoyed some fabulous puddings at the interval and many came back for a second helping !!! Dec 07 At the beginning of the month we heard the diappointing news that we had not been invited to the second stage of the lottery funding bid. We are of course naturally disappointed not to be successful but in the New Year we will continue to look at how we take forward the plans to build a new hal for the village which we do remain committed to. If yu have any ideas of how you could assist us with ideas of fundraising, other funding sources, benefactors, etc then please get in touch because the more help and input we have the more likely we are to be successful in our ultimate goal. May the Committee take this opportunity to wish everybody a HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND A PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR. Nov 07 We have been notified by the Lottery that they are meeting on the 26th Nov to decide the successful applicants who will be invited to submit a stage 2 application. The Village Hall is of course still in the running and we hope to hear the results of the meeting on the 3rd Dec........lets keep our fingers crossed !!! Oct 07 Unfortunately Gonzo Moose cancelled their performance 3 days before the event....but.....never to be beaten, the Committee vowed to carry on and laid on an impromptu quiz night which was attended by nearly 3/4 of those who wanted to see Gonzo which was a great turn out. The meal was still laid on and everybody enjoyed a hearty pork stroganoff and chocolate mousse...........the eventually winning team were "The Muppet Show" but only just. Sept 07 A successful first running of the remake of Countdown was held at the hall on 28th Sept. A number of teams pit their wits against dictionary corner to come up with the longest words. The "Mentally Challenged" team eventually ran out winners. Another great event that I'm sure will be repeated so look out for it again. Aug 07 We have been told that due to the high number of applications we will not hear the result of our lottery application until December. However the good news is that we are now shortlisted to the last 500 applications from 1600 received !!! The annual flower show and fete was held on the 18th Aug and for the fourth year runing it rained and rained and rained some more. Despit that the village turned out and helped the event raise over £1300. Thank you goes to all those who attended and helped in anyway. Your support is always appreciated. July 07 An hour long telephone interview has taken place with BIG Lottery Fund. This forms part of our assessment for the Stage 1 application submitted for funding for a new hall. We await the results which should be announced in August May 07 Another fantastic "Call My Wine Bluff" was held on the 11th with the hall packed out. Everybody tucked in to a fantastic cheese platter after the event washed down with lots of the wine that had been tasted during the event. Our events calendar is also taking shape for the next 12 months so please look out opposite for details. April 07 The Lottery application has been submitted with a decision being expected within 6 months. March 07 Opera Anywhere completed another successful season of Arts At Large Events. We are now currently reviewing possibilities for next years acts. Feb 07 The committee are putting the final touches to plans for a replacement village hall. Funding is being sought from the Big Lottery Fund. Full details will follow on the new and improved website. Jan 07 Another successful Arts At Large performance took place with Storybox Theatre. The magical puppeteer played to a delighted audience and the event was another great success for Fritwell Village Hall.
